The Story of the Infamous 1979 ALIEN Action Figure.

Here’s an online item of relevance. It’s something I don’t know if I have previously posted here on HIDEOUS PLASTIC. At least, I don’t remember doing so. Regardless, it certainly belongs in this space.

I barely recall this discussion but here is an interview I did with merritt k a little over a year ago for his blog, Other Strangeness. This must have been a great chat we had as looking back at it, I’m still more than happy with it.

Happy 7th Anniversary, HIDEOUS PLASTIC.

Rip yer brains out, Kiddies! 7 years ago today, HIDEOUS PLASTIC launched. We’re still here, messing around with ALIEN toys both old and new, going strong and will continue to do so. It’s been an interesting past twelve months although a little light on where hostile face destroying parasitoid space creature play things are concerned. Nonetheless, the future looks bright. At this point in time, we are looking forward to ALIEN: Romulus being released next year, on August 16. That’s definitely a major release I am looking forward to. This past year has been a little scant on the ALIEN merchandise front. I’m guessing official licence holders are currently tooling up, preparing to be dedicated and committed to manufacturing tie-in goodies for that aforementioned new ALIEN movie when it is finally released. Those companies won’t be ready to make any announcements until sometime next year. Making tie-in merchandise is a lot of work but I’m guessing next year’s ALIEN Day (April 26) will be an opportunity to showcase and reveal content for us to eagerly gobble up. Such major announcements have been lacking in recent years on ALIEN Day but I’ll be covering as much as I can here on HIDEOUS PLASTIC when it happens. Good times ahead, for sure! Get Excited!

As for my own endeavors, it’s the usual mixed bag. There’s no progress to report about my 2nd book dedicated to ALIEN toys, HIDEOUS PLASTIC: This time it’s more. People who have purchased my first book love it and I am more than OK with that for now. Nonetheless, another book of such magnitude is a huge and ambitious undertaking. Rest assured, though. While this site is active, that project is still alive. We shall see what happens next year when interest in the ALIEN series is bound to increase once again.

Another side project I am also working is called XENOMOFOS. That’s a fun little undertaking I’ve also been wanting to return to. I’ll get there. It’s still ticking over in the background right now. I’ve had other more important real life stuff to deal with, but hey. I may just have some real news on ALIEN Day next year. That’s kind of appropriate, right? I just don’t have anything to show for my efforts in this regard right now.

In the meantime, this site has grown substantially over the last seven years. Each of the areas below contains a significant selection of content. Click on the links and explore the site at your leisure:

REVIEWS – Various ALIEN action figures and toys. Just what I can get here in Australia.
1979 KENNER ALIEN – Every known variant of the nefarious toy, first released in 1979.
1979 KENNER ALIEN REPAIRS – Need to fix your ALIEN toy? This article is a solid start.
1979 KENNER ALIEN REPAIRS (2) – Another article guiding you on fixing these old toys.
1979 MPC ALIEN KIT – Information regarding the MPC ALIEN model kit and its variants.
1979 KENNER ALIEN BOARD GAME – The vintage ALIEN board game and its variants.
ALIEN PROTOTYPE FIGURES – A depository of Kenner product development samples.
REACTION FIGURE GUIDE – A listing of Super7’s 3.75 inch collectible ALIEN toy line.
IMPERFECT ORGANISMS – An exploration of ALIEN factory seconds, faults and errors.
BOOTLEG ALIENS – Unlicenced and knock off ALIEN toys and other oddities.
COLLATED WORKS – Links to all other features, articles, items of interest and so on…

If you would like a copy of my first book dedicated to exploringKenner’s notorious 1979 ALIEN action figure, HIDEOUS PLASTIC: In stores everyone can you scream, you can  find copies available globally on eBay for Au$45. Stocks are getting low.

With all that said, I am hoping to bring more articles to the site in the coming year. I have a few plans that need to be worked on and more content is coming. I’m pretty stoked about what is being planned and maybe you will be too. Oh, 2024 is going to be great year for some much needed space monstery goodness!

Happy 6th Anniversary.

Today marks the 6th year I’ve been running this blog, HIDEOUS PLASTIC. Not too bad. Not too shabby, I say! Six years is pretty damned good considering the average lifetime for a web page is only three years. Well, so I’ve been told, anyway. Going strong now and no end in sight. HIDEOUS PLASTIC is here to stay and will continue to grow.

In six years, this modest site now houses a terrific range of content. Much of it is unique and I am proud of it; and I thank all the contributors who have made such a difference during this time. Also, great thank you to the people who visit this site. Keep returning as I do add content either to the front page or enlarge existing articles with new items. This is an ongoing process for an evolving site.

Originally intended to provide support for my book of the same name dedicated to the 1979 Kenner ALIEN action figure, HIDEOUS PLASTIC – In stores everyone can hear you scream (available globally on eBay for Au$45) this blog has since evolved into a much greater and larger endeavour. Substantial areas have been added and expanded during this time, documenting all manner of unusual and unexpected ALIEN action figures, toys and other merchandise. Articles range from exploring Kenner ALIEN product development samples & prototypes, factory product error samples and bootleg ALIEN figures to reviews and an array of other content. Most of these features can be accessed from the links appearing in the sidebar at right; but here’s some quick links to get you interested:

REVIEWS – Various ALIEN action figures and toys. Just what I can get here in Australia.
1979 KENNER ALIEN – Every known variant of the nefarious toy, first released in 1979.
1979 KENNER ALIEN REPAIRS – Need to fix your ALIEN toy? This article is a solid start.
1979 MPC ALIEN KIT – Information regarding the ALIEN model kit and its variants.

A ton of great stuff to be found in those links, above. Make sure you take the time to check ’em out. These areas receive updates from time to time resulting in some very lengthy content dedicated to little known topics of ALIEN action figures and toys. I’m also constantly looking for items to add to those entries so if you want to make a contribution, please do so! Send me details and I’ll add them, providing appropriate credit. You can contact me: windebieste@hideousplastic.com

Aside from keeping this blog ticking over, a couple of other related Projects I am working on are in various stages of development. Significantly, HIDEOUS PLASTIC Vol. 2 is slowly coming back to life. Personal challenges and obstacles I’ve had to be overcome before I could even contemplate approaching this mammoth task are now behind me. I am now set up in my current residence with most of the house renovations completed which means I am now in the position to look forward to once again charging ahead with this Project. We’ll get there. We always do. Just had to get my personal life anchored once again.

To be more precise, Vol.2 is intended to document ALIEN action figures and toys spanning the years 1979 to 2000. Twenty years of weird and wonderful ALIEN toys and action figure merchandise from last century is expected to be around 300 pages of content. All of them, if I can. Including the odd resin and metal cast items that are difficult to find. It’s going to be an enormous task but I’m looking forward to the challenge.

Another project I have waiting in the wings and about to re-emerge is also very much alive. It will be much easier than writing and preparing a 300 page book about ALIEN action figures. Nonetheless, it’s true. “XENOMOFOS!” LIVES! This project was revealed earlier this year and is just about ready to resume my attention. It too has had to be put aside for the aforementioned personal reasons. The challenge is real. But so is my determination.

So 2023 is beginning to shape up to look very promising for the future of this blog. At least another year of HIDEOUS PLASTIC will be around to see it all happen. I am looking forward to ALIEN Day (April 26) next year and I hope to have more content for you then. In the meantime, please check out what this blog already has to offer. To be certain there’s plenty of ALIEN content assembled under this banner, gathered together in one place that you will be hard pressed to find elsewhere in this variety. Have a great day!

Six years online. Not bad. For a human. 😉

HIDEOUS PLASTIC. Currency Conversion Discount.

While HIDEOUS PLASTIC is going strong, the Australian dollar certainly isn’t doing quite so well. It’s actually performing kind of crummy at the moment. Especially when compared to the US Dollar. Right now the currency exchange rate is very favorable for residents of the US. Here is the current conversion rate: 1 US Dollar = 1.46 Australian Dollar. Or, to express it another way, purchasing an item from Australia for one dollar will only cost a US resident sixty eight cents.

This means the price for my 2020 published book, HIDEOUS PLASTIC – In stores everyone can hear you scream. is now at a record low price for international purchasers wanting to buy a copy from eBay. The low exchange rate also means a reduced postage cost for international buyers – and that’s good news. While you are checking out the eBay listing make sure you read the buyer feedback.

Of course this means right now is the perfect time to buy a copy. The 300 page full color book details the 1979 Kenner ALIEN toy’s complete forty year history among many, many of its other points of interest in a single volume. The price has already been reduced to half original RRP. The exchange rate is favorable. Stocks are getting low. Christmas is coming. The stars are in line – all the way from here to Zeta 2 Reticuli.

If you live in the US and have been holding off owning a copy of this unique book documenting one of the world’s most notorious and collectible toys ever made, now is the perfect window of opportunity to buy.

But wait. There’s more! I can cut this deal even further. You can completely ignore eBay altogether and contact me directly. I will discount an additional AU$2 off the current AU$30 for anyone wanting to purchase a copy direct from the author. Regardless of where you live globally, just send me an email if you want a copy for as little as AU$28 (plus postage) and still take advantage of the current low international exchange rate. BARGAIN!

windebieste@hideousplastic.com

Doing so means a copy will be on its way to you, yesterday. That’s no joke, actually. postage from Australia to the US crosses the International Dateline and I post on day of received payment. So yeah. That’s service you can’t beat, on a unique item not available anywhere else and on its way to you very soon. Have a great day.

HIDEOUS PLASTIC – Post ALIEN Day Sale.

ALIEN Day, April 26, came and went pretty quietly. I spent the day celebrating with friends and that was the big occasion highlight for me. Which is a good thing because this year’s ALIEN Day was otherwise one of the quietest to date. Big announcements we’ve seen in the past were lacking and it was mostly the fan community bolstering the celebration. I guess that’s the way it should be. Anyway, let’s have a post ALIEN Day book sale.

Right now, HIDEOUS PLASTIC – In stores everyone can hear you scream has been discounted to the generous price of Au$30. That’s less than half price of original retail for a 300 page book dedicated to the “life and times” of the notorious eighteen inch tall ALIEN toy, released by Kenner in 1979.

Packed with information and full colour images, there has never, NEVER been a publication like it. When it comes to comics, novels big picture books for big kids and other forms of ALIEN literature, you will find them in abundance; but this is the only tome that even comes close to addressing a tiny corner of ALIEN merchandise. Unique and running low on stock. Posted from Australia to readers around the world. Purchased directly from the author (me) via eBay.

This sale will be active for the entire month of May. Don’t forget to read the feedback ratings.

Happy 5th Anniversary, HIDEOUS PLASTIC.

It’s been five years since this blog was launched, which comfortably places half a decade behind us and we’re still continuing to grow. Let’s first acknowledge that much like last year, 2021 has been tough for almost everyone. Covid-19 is still a major part of everyone’s day to day lives and we’ve all had to make adjustments to our lifestyles in some way. Sometimes temporarily, sometimes more permanent. Nonetheless, HIDEOUS PLASTIC is surviving and doing well.

Let’s celebrate with a Au$20 discount sale on the book. Awesome!

This is a celebratory post with some content I wish to discuss and I’ll cover it in detail below. A lot has happened over the past twelve months and much remains to be seen during the coming year and beyond. So, let’s get stuck into dismantling this list.

1). HIDEOUS PLASTIC Site and Content.
As we enter our sixth year online, almost 900 News posts have been made and 200 pages of ALIEN toy and action figure content now exists here at your fingertips at hideousplastic.com. The site has become content rich and I’ve been working at it for five years. So it should reflect that effort. And now it does.

In regards to News items, excepting a few scattered announcements from official licensers during the passed year, there has been a drought regarding new ALIEN toys and action figures being released. In this regard, I’ve continued to prop up the News section during these lean times by posting select Kenner ALIEN toys for sale on eBay. Importantly, however, this drought will break. There is a new ALIEN television series being released at some point in the not too distant future and it’s a safe bet it will support a stream of new merchandise associated with it. Which is great, as far as I am concerned. It will be a while before the TV show is properly revealed but you can rest assured, HIDEOUS PLASTIC will be around to post news about any action figure goodies associated with it. I am positive about this new show and looking forward to seeing what it has to offer.

2). HIDEOUS PLASTIC Book: Vol.1.
Taking the current global health crisis into consideration, sales of the book, are doing well. It’s nowhere near the heady levels of a New York Times Best Seller but as an independent publication documenting the (at the time) unpopular forty year old Kenner ALIEN toy, I am not troubled by that as it was never intended to achieve those lofty goals. Currently the book is self sustaining with sales being more than adequate to ensure the bills associated with running and maintaining this site are paid, guaranteeing its survival. It’s now part of a positive self-supporting feedback loop. That’s a good thing.

Which reminds me. Today’s post is as much a celebration as it is a News item. So let’s celebrate with a sale! This week, HIDEOUS PLASTIC – In stores everyone can hear you scream is currently on sale at a discount price. Or you can contact me directly if you want one at the current low price of Au$35. Remember, as outlined above, purchase of this book will continue to keep this site alive during the coming years and assist greatly in funding other projects I currently have in development.

Yeah. That’s right. I’m always up to something. So let’s talk about those in-development projects.

3). HIDEOUS PLASTIC Book: Vol.2.
I have to be straight forward and blunt on this topic. Unfortunately, the current pandemic climate is still negatively affecting just about everything. This continuing situation is making it extremely difficult to further develop this project at this stage. In this regard, I am placing a pause on the progress of the sequel book, HIDEOUS PLASTIC – This time it’s more. This is in no way intended to indicate any cancellation of this project – it’s just being placed on hold until more favourable conditions arise so I can apply my best efforts to it. Right now is simply not the right time.

Believe me, I want to see this book happen but it’s just going to have to wait and sit on the back burner and simmer for now. For how long? I don’t know but when I decide to pick it up again and run with it, I will be more than happy to make appropriate announcements.

Mind you, that doesn’t mean I am slacking off entirely. It raises the next and final agenda item presented here today, on our fifth anniversary celebration. This is something I’ve been wanting to talk about for a while and we are getting closer to a proper reveal sometime soon which will take place next year. I am aiming for April 4, ALIEN Day to make an announcement.

4). Unannounced HIDEOUS PLASTIC Project.
While the postponement of HIDEOUS PLASTIC – This time it’s more was definitely a hard decision to make, the pause in development has provided me with the opportunity to elevate another project to the fore. This is something I have been researching for the past two years but still not yet ready to reveal details. Nonetheless, this endeavor will be easier for me to complete, less expensive than embarking on another major publication and also substantially diversify what HIDEOUS PLASTIC has to offer. At this stage, it’s a worthy trade off and one that will be delivered in a shorter time frame, too.

Significantly, advancement of this project is currently being funded by sales of HIDEOUS PLASTIC – In stores everyone can hear you scream but entering into a full crowd funding campaign at some date in the future may be required to complete it. I am expecting that may happen in late 2022. Maybe earlier. We shall see how this new project advances. I’ve learned to keep my cards close to my chest on such things and I am not yet ready to make a full reveal just yet.

So there you have it. Notwithstanding the fact Covid-19 still firmly wraps itself in a stranglehold around the planet, HIDEOUS PLASTIC remains healthy and continues to grow. We’ll be around for a long time yet. We’re already halfway to celebrating our first decade; all during the continued unfolding events of a difficult global health issue of historical significance.

Thank you everyone for visiting and supporting this unique and 100% independent site. I don’t use paywalls or thrust out my hand for contributions or relentlessly canvass for money or insist on donations. I don’t even run a Patreon account. I keep this site advertisement free and if you want to support and see this project continue to grow, you can always purchase a copy of HIDEOUS PLASTIC – In stores everyone can hear you scream. …or maybe tell your friends about it. That helps, too.

Peace to you all, be kind to each other and remember, Covid has taught us all something. We have become a large community on a small planet, interconnected and closer than we ever were before. We’re all neighbours now. The rest is up to you.

HIDEOUS PLASTIC on fanbyte.

I had the recent joy of talking with merritt k of fanbyte about my book, HIDEOUS PLASTIC – In stores everyone can hear you scream. We had a lengthy email exchange including some questions he wanted answered. I was obliging and the resulting article can be read here, How Game Dev Blues Led to a 300 Page Book on an ‘Alien’ Toy From 1979.These Q&A sessions are a lot of fun! I’m going to have to do more of them, I think.

3.75 Inch Bootleg ALIEN Action Figures.

Along with an abundance of licenced ALIEN merchandise, there also exists an unknown number of unlicenced product. This pair of 3.75 inch custom made art object figures fit well into this category and have now been added to the section on HIDEOUS PLASTIC dedicated to Bootlegs, Knock Offs and Other ‘Illegal Aliens’.Dubious items of this nature were created by fans deprived of the opportunity to own legitimately manufactured 3.75 inch ALIEN toys after they were originally planned and then cancelled in 1979. Unusual home grown product like these items, emulating what could have been, were sold at markets and toy fairs to satiate equally enthusiastic fans wanting to own product that was otherwise simply not available at the time. This of course changed in 2013 when Super7 finally released officially licenced versions of these toys. Until then, the only way to own such merchandise was simple. You had to make it yourself.

HIDEOUS PLASTIC One Week Sale – ONLY $25.

Let’s have a sale. Everybody loves sales, right? In which case, let’s move some stock. This is always fun! For this week until next Wednesday, 28 July, I am heavily reducing the price of my book, HIDEOUS PLASTIC – In stores everyone can hear you scream.

All the way down to the very, very affordable price of only Au$25. That’s Au$30 off the current retail price. Less than half price! CHEAP!

Let’s see… That works out to around only US$18.00. Wow. The international USD to AUD exchange rate is really lousy at the moment. You might like to take advantage of that benefit.

Anyway, you can find books about many topics relating to the ALIEN movies: art, fiction, non-fiction, novels, comics, making of documentations, illustrated scripts, Giger’s diaries… and so on and so forth. There’s tons of books on all subjects relating to the ALIEN movies but HIDEOUS PLASTIC is the ONLY book available that focuses exclusively on ALIEN merchandise. There’s NOTHING out there like it. Get yourself a copy of this unique (almost) 300 page book dedicated to the 1979 Kenner ALIEN toy at this deep, deep incentive laden promotional discount price:

Available WORLDWIDE for one week only on eBay for Au$25.

Got any doubts? Hey, don’t forget to read the feedback on the eBay page prior to purchase. This offer ends Wednesday, 28 July. Go for it.

Update – HIDEOUS PLASTIC Book.

Around this time last year, I published my first book, HIDEOUS PLASTIC – In stores everyone can hear you scream. Sales have been slow but steady; and a little patchy to say the least with some weeks better than others. Nonetheless, to say that the past twelve months have been unkind to the world is an understatement. So, I’m grateful for the sales that have been made and importantly, purchasers appear to be happy with the result.

Here’s some of the feedback I’ve received from eBay sales.

I’m pleased with these responses to the book. I need such feedback to help sell remaining stock. I still have around three hundred and fifty copies on hand. So such endorsements are a valuable tool to achieving this goal.

HIDEOUS PLASTIC – In stores everyone can hear you scream. is an almost 300 page book dedicated to understanding the eighteen inch tall ALIEN action figure toy released by Kenner Products in 1979. More information about the book can be found here.

The book is available on eBay right now. The price has been reduced from AU$65 to AU$55. Global shipping is available. Apparently it’s a good book and people like it. This pleases me to no end and makes it “Mission accomplished” on those terms alone.

-Windebieste.

HIDEOUS PLASTIC – ‘Phase 2’ Commences.

I recently completed adding the MPC ALIEN kit and all of its variants to HIDEOUS PLASTIC, which was a goal I’ve been wanting to achieve for a long time. It’s significant in other ways, too. This action completed what I always considered to be the final stage of ‘Phase 1’ of the greater HIDEOUS PLASTIC Project. I am now progressing to ‘Phase 2’.To celebrate the commencement of this effort, I’ve added some new banner images to the site. These will randomly display along with the already extant 1979 ALIEN banners. These do look neat and indicate the site’s transition of interest, and related content yet to be added. In all actuality, ‘Phase 2’ began a long time ago with various components now already in place. ‘Phase 2’ is intended to focus on ALIENS action figures, toys and model kits, specifically made and sold between the years 1979 and 2000. All of them, if possible. This will be a massive undertaking to say the least and I expect will take me years to complete. Some items of interest have already been added.

Items such as Kenner Prototypes and unlicenced/bootleg items already have a solid presence on the site. You can navigate to them easily from the Sidebar on the Right side of the home page or from the drop down menu just below the site’s banner. That’s a ton of work done right there, freeing me to now concentrate on adding officially released product to the site. I’m glad I took advantage of posting those items when they became available as they are rare and difficult to source. I do not have to hunt for them now. That would be be a nightmare. I will take this opportunity to thank everyone who made those pages possible. Images, content and information are all credited as appropriate wherever possible. Thank you, all.

There is still a lot yet to be done. Documenting all the ALIENS toys, figures and model kits from the final two decades of last century is the next goal. That will take some time – I am looking at several years worth of effort to make the detailed entries I envision. This will all take time to accomplish. I will need help as it will be a significant challenge and there also exists a large range of potential content I am only vaguely aware of, at best. I hope I have the energy and perseverance to do so. Mind you, this site has come this far and been fun to manage, so I know it can be done.

“How far I can take this Project?” That’s a good question. It’s something I have been asking myself from the very beginning and been the underlying work philosophy dictating my approach right from the start, all the way back to 2015. It’s been six years since commencing the HIDEOUS PLASTIC Project and I haven’t given up yet; and indeed, the contrary is true.

I have succeeded with my efforts culminating in one book already published. That alone was a massive undertaking, featuring a set of challenges. If I take my time and maintain the plan, I may yet publish another book, Vol.2, sometime in the next few years or so. A book focusing on toys and figures based on the four ALIEN movies made during the twenty years spanning 1979 to 2000. That’s always been the plan. Well, let’s see how far along the process path we can go this time. In a sense, it’s like starting over; but with some significant advantages along with a fresh batch of challenges to go with it.

If this all works out, the longer range vision is to document similar ALIEN content that has appeared on store shelves between the years 2001 and 2020; or as I like to think of it, ‘Phase 3’. That’s not being given much consideration at this time, though. Nonetheless if I am still working on this Project in five years, I will be in a fantastic position to give it my focused attention.

That is all for now. I hope you can join me as I embark on this challenging new phase of HIDEOUS PLASTIC’s development. Thank you for your support. Have a great day.

Happy 4th Anniversary, HIDEOUS PLASTIC.

Four years ago today, I launched this blog.

It’s primary purpose was to support the book I was writing at the time, extensively documenting the 18 inch tall 1979 Kenner ALIEN toy released forty one years ago. Of course, this blog has grown a lot since then – and it’s endured it’s fair swag of challenges as well. During the last four years on a personal level that has affected its continued attention, I have sold my house, moved twice, bought another house, had my leg cut off and bolted back on again and published that aforementioned book. HIDEOUS PLASTIC – In stores everyone can hear you scream, which is now available. …and I can also walk again, too. Which is an ability I welcome every day. More importantly, my life is calming down again so I can now give my blog greater attention, too.The aforementioned book is now published and currently available on eBay, or you can purchase it from me directly. More outlets are being organised for next year and it’s time to look ahead to the future. I have more plans moving forward into the New Year and soon this current Phase One of the HIDEOUS PLASTIC Project will be complete. Right now I am in the final stage of tying up loose ends. This process involves among other tasks, adding every ReAction figure released by Super7 onto their own dedicated section of the site. A landing page is now added and will be growing longer during the coming weeks.

This Landing Page is still very much work in progress but is in a usable albeit incomplete state. A quarter of the items requiring documentation have been added in quick succession and it continues to grow rapidly. I estimate it will be content complete sometime in January/February, 2021. Quick access to the ReAction figure Landing Page can be found in the side bar at right; or via the “Collated Works” menu to be found below the main banner at the top of this page. Not long to go now. Once these entries are accomplished, I will be shifting my focus ever so slightly early next year.

Overall, 2020 has been a difficult year for us all. I don’t know anyone who has braved through this global health crisis unscathed. Either by being directly affected by contracting Covid-19 or knowing someone else who has done so; or have themselves otherwise been indirectly affected via financial hardship or experienced some other difficulties due to it. Bring on 2021, I say! Everything will start to improve next year and I know I’m not alone wanting to see 2020 put behind us.

Next year should see impending vaccines becoming widespread and here’s to hoping everyone who has supported this blog with their presence will continue to do so. Believe me, it’s been a hard year for me, too; and one of the joys assisting me to progress through it has been dedicating time to this blog and finally seeing my book be published. Thank you for your support in every way. It has meant a great deal to me. We continue to push forward, together.

We’ve still got a long way to go, though. Next year will be the start of a new Phase of HIDEOUS PLASTIC and I know people will enjoy it. So, stick around, kiddies. I’ll be commencing an estimated three years of celebrating 1990s Kenner ALIENS toys on this blog. That herculean task is just around the corner and with your support it can be accomplished. 🙂

Thank you for four great years. I’ve got at least another four more to go.

Video Review – HIDEOUS PLASTIC Book.

Here’s something I’ve been wanting to see for a while, a video review of the book HIDEOUS PLASTIC. This review is by Baptiste Coudert. The big questions are always the same. Is it any good? Did he like it? Would he recommend it to anyone interested in a 300 page compendium of absolutely everything there is to know about an ugly-ass forty year old ALIEN toy that failed at retail outlets back in 1979..?

Check out the video below and find out!

For the past five years I’ve been working on this publication. It’s great to see it finally become available and get it out to people’s hands. I’ve enjoyed the feedback. It’s been great. Thank you Baptiste for your appraisal of the book. It means a great deal to me.

HIDEOUS PLASTIC – In stores everyone can hear you scream. is now available. Currently, you can either purchase direct by contacting me at windebieste@hideousplastic.com or purchase via eBay.

HIDEOUS PLASTIC Copies Now Arriving.

Copies of HIDEOUS PLASTIC – In stores everyone can hear you scream have been arriving in customers and contributors mailboxes. These have taken a little longer to arrive but they have made their way across the Pacific and are now being delivered. So far, the response and feedback has been very favourable. Those of you who have received a copy, please keep in mind I have no promotional undertaking for this book. It’s outside my ability to justify an expensive awareness raising exercise on the small production run of only five hundred copies. From this point onward, I will be relying heavily on word of mouth to spread News of its existence. So please, if you’re satisfied with the content of this publication, do take a minute or so to spread the word; in any way you choose to do so would be greatly appreciated.

Also keep in mind, this volume, while focusing tightly on the 1979 Kenner ALIEN toy, is intended to be the first volume in a trilogy dedicated to ALIEN action figures released during the past forty years. For that greater and more ambitious goal to be realised, this book has to be a success.

Thank you everyone who has purchased this book. I look forward to all feedback and any publicly released reviews you may choose to post. For those of you who are curious and want to know more about its contents, here is information about this book and the unusual toy it explores and celebrates.

This unique publication can be purchased directly from the author on eBay. Copies are posted from Australia.
