Video Review – Eaglemoss and NECA.

Unboxing videos? Yeah. I love unboxing videos. I love unboxing videos made by Baptiste Coudert. So here’s a sweet little video featuring his disembodied French voice and hairy arms praising the merits of NECA’s recently released 7 inch tall 40th Anniversary figures. All 7 of them released to date (Ultimate Alien, Ripley, Kane, Translucent Alien, Brett, Parker and …yet another Alien, this one bloodied). Check it out. It’s great fun as always.

But wait, there’s more! Continue reading

NECA Rhino Alien V2.0 Coming January, 2021.

NECA have released a fantastic gallery of their upcoming variant Rhino Alien action figure. This colorway on this figure features a much more mechanical blue and steel grey scheme than the previous release version of this piece. This is a much more biomechanical finish to the creature and the ambience does appear to suit it much better than the original tangerine of some time back. Here’s what NECA have to say about this upcoming item, “Prepare to be bowled over by the newest addition to NECA’s Kenner Tribute line! The Rhino Alien is back and better than ever with brand new paint deco based on the variant release. Our team took inspiration from Kenner’s classic design and transformed it into an all-new modern behemoth featuring all of today’s detail and articulation. Rhino Alien measures approximately 10” and has a massive ramming horn for attacking its unlucky prey. Comes in all-new deluxe window box packaging.” Sounds very promising. This item is scheduled for release in January, 2021.

ToyArk Reviews SDCC 2020 NECA GitD Alien.

ToyArk has posted a review along with an image gallery of NECA’s upcoming San Diego Comic Con 2020 Glow in the Dark ALIEN exclusive. A great treatment of the creature along with a few accessories makes a fine review. Check it out. I’m a sucker for glow in the dark stuff. I have to admit I do like this treatment of the figure. It sure is a creepy lookin’ critter when presented like this with luminous green features and black pits where eyes would normally be, hey. Glow in the dark features on ALIEN toys and action figures date back forty years to the original 1979 Kenner ALIEN toy. These things sure have come a long way. This new NECA item features the new updated seven inch Ultimate ALIEN sculpt, a chestburster, a facehugger and an opening egg as accessories. Oh, my! I love it.

NECA Releases More 40th Anniversary ALIEN Images.

NECA have released a nice hat trick of promotional content on Facebook as part of their Facehugger Friday reveals. Part three includes some fresh images of Kane and Ash. Oh, and another Alien. Let’s check out those likenesses of the Nostromo’s executive officer, Gilbert Kane and Science Officer, Ash. These do look neat. This is the first time either likeness has been used by NECA for these characters. NECA’s brief description tells us,Alien 40th Anniversary series 3 isn’t far behind with more figure firsts this Fall. Later this year is perfectly fine. NECA have never released Ash before. This is the android’s first appearance in their line up of 7 inch action figures. The likeness is great; and that hair! Kane in his compression suit, on the other hand, has seen previous release. This time, however, NECA have acquired the likeness rights and his features appear without that nasty facehugger thing sitting on his face to obscure his visage.

Maybe today should have been called Facehugger Free Friday.

NECA Reveal Rhino Alien Recolour.

Looks like Facehugger Friday has had a few good reveals of late.  NECA have also revealed on Facebook images of an alternate color variant of their recently released Rhino Alien figure.

This version is more in tone with colour themes normally associated with Alien creatures. Grey and black are the more appropriate colour scheme used here rather than the translucent amber presentation of the earlier release. NECA don’t have much to say about this item except, Rhino v2 based on the classic Kenner repaint joins the line late this year.” The NECA Rhino Alien is a tribute to Kenner’s ALIENS figure of the same name released 25 years ago.

YAAAAAAYYYYY!  On facebook today, NECA shared with the world package designs for their soon to be released Brett and Parker ALIEN Wave 2, 40th Anniversary action figures. Importantly, we finally see Parker and Brett finally being released in this format. Neither of this pair have ever been done before by NECA! Their release is not only welcome but exciting. I can’t wait to see the photos of fans dioramas after these are released. Brett and Parker will be released soon. Here’s what NECA have to say about this upcoming release, “Final packaging of Alien 40th Anniversary Series 2 coming to specialty shops everywhere soon.”  Yeah! Parker and Brett, baby. Right. They both appear to have some neat accessories, too. A flamethrower and cattle prod for Parker and another cattle prod and motion tracker for Brett. These are all round good choices for both characters but I might have liked to have seen Brett have Jones as an accessory. Continue reading

Standing over 9″ tall, the Big Chap has over 30 points of articulation including a hinged jaw that reveals the inner mouth when opened. NECA Rhino Alien Figure Now Available.

It looks like this is a fun week for NECA fans and enthusiasts. NECA  released their Kenner tribute Space Marine Drake action figure yesterday. Now they have let the gates open and set their Rhino Alien loose unto the world. This beast is now available online. You can purchase this item from NECA’s eBay store or from Amazon. Some people already have their Kenner Tribute Rhino Alien arrive and the accounts are this brute is huge and well detailed. I’m looking forward to seeing how much it scales with other NECA ALIEN figures. I bet it will feature well in dioramas, alongside other xenomorphs duking it out with colonial space marines. Drake is going to need that smartgun. Too much fun, I say.

NECA Release Drake figure, Ripley Coming Soon.

It’s Facehugger Friday; and that’s a good thing, right? NECA have now released their new Space Marine Drake (Kenner tribute) action figure to the world. They have also provided us with a new image of their upcoming and updated Ripley figure.Drake is now available from NECA’s eBay store or on Amazon if you prefer. Go grab yourself a bad ass Space Marine complete with smartgun to show those pesky Xenomorphs who’s boss! Ripley isn’t available just yet but here she is with Jones the cat and motion tracker accessory. Love the motion tracker – notably, it has the ice cube trays used in the props construction clearly visibly and affixed on the side.  Brilliant! Here’s what NECA have to say about this upcoming figure. Hey all you cool cats and kittens. on Facebook. ummm… Is that all?  I guess so. Thanks, NECA. That’s great, I think. Anyway, Ripley will be part of NECA’s ongoing 40th Anniversary of the release of ALIEN and should be available soon.

NECA Release New Space Marine Drake Images.

Facehugger Friday is upon us and today’s reveal from NECA sees a pair of package images of Space Marine Drake action figure released on Facebook. Space Marine Drake is another NECA tribute figure based on the old 1990s Kenner toy of the same name. He looks neat even if he more closely resembles Pvt. Hicks rather than Drake on the packaging art. Anyway, here’s what NECA have to say about the imminent release of this item, “The 7″ scale Kenner Homage Drake Action Figure is packed up and ready to take on the Rhino Alien! You can expect this figure to start shipping on April 14th.” Personally, I’m not all that interested in the human ALIENS characters NECA are releasing but this does look sweet and just a tad ludicrous with the double bayonet mounted smartgun. lol. Have fun with this when it is released in a week or so.

NECA Release Package Images of Rhino Alien.

It’s Facehugger Friday, Kiddies; and we all know what that means, right? YEEEEAAH!! That’s right! It means NECA have released new teaser content for upcoming product. This week they have posted some new images of packaging for their upcoming Kenner Rhino Alien tribute figure on Facebook. The retro style packaging sure looks snappy. Here’s what NECA have to say about it “We managed to contain the Kenner Rhino Xenomorph inside its packaging, but not for long. This beast ships out on April 13th!” I’m fine with that. NECA Releases Images of Drake Figure.

Among all the hassles of moving house, I’ve also had to reinstall Windows 10 due to a Windows Update fail. Thank you for the inconvenience, Microsoft. As always, it’s a pain in the arse to have to endure your rubbish but this time your failed update process happened at the tail end of a project I’m working on; plus, moving house added up to more bullshit I could care to deal with. Fortunately, I keep back ups of all my stuff.

The only thing I have lost is information as to where I downloaded these images of NECA’s upcoming Space Marine Drake action figure. This is a new tribute item inspired by Kenner’s older Drake action figure of the 1990s. I don’t have any other details of this item handy, right now. At this stage, I’m grateful it’s all I’ve lost. So far, so good. Fingers, toes and eyes are now crossed. Continue reading

NECA Release Likeness Images of Kane and Ash.

It’s Facehugger Friday again and you know what that means, Kiddies?  That’s right! It means NECA shares some goodies with us!  Today we have been blessed with images of likeness sculpts of both Kane and Ash as part of NECA’s 40th Anniversary line of ALIEN action figures.

These two items will comprise part of Wave 3 and while the compression suit wearing Kane has been previously released in NECA’s REEL TOYS line, this is the first time we have seen John Hurt’s actual likeness used by NECA.  Ash (played by Ian Holm) is the first time this character has been released by the company.  NECA has recently displayed these figures at New York Toy Fair.  Unfortunately, I’ve been too busy moving house to post News, so we’ll just have to let that important event pass on by. Such sacrifices we make. I may post some updates later.  Anyway, here’s what NECA have to say about these 2 very welcome additions to the 40th Anniversary ALIEN line up: “We can finally say that every member from the Nostromo has or will have their own action figure.”  Nice. No release date or pricing is yet available.

NECA Reveals Wave 2 ALIEN 40th Anniversary Set.

Just taking a quick break from packing boxes, moving house and pulling up carpet and I see NECA have released a gallery of images of what we can expect to see in Series 2 of their continuing range of ALIEN 40th Anniversary figures. This wave will feature a set of 3 characters Nostromo’s technician Brett, engineer Parker and bloodied version of the Alien. It looks like a great set of figures – and this is NECA’s first reveal of their blood spattered version of the Alien.Brett and Parker are must have characters, but do I really need another Alien? ….hmmm… maybe not; but it does look like this messy faced little bugger is an alternate version of NECA’s earlier 40th Anniversary figure. Only this time he’s in need of a good face wash and maybe use some dental floss to remove the sticking detritus of Brett and Parker’s brains from between his teeth. Continue reading

NECA Posts More 40th Anniversary Ripley Images.

Here’s NECA’s upcoming 40th Anniversary action figure of Ellen Ripley, complete with all of her accessories. Some nice items in this lot, originally posted on Facebook, is this week’s Facehugger Friday special announcement for all things NECA and ALIEN. Ripley with her new high tech printed face holding her flamethrower is accompanied by an assortment of new accessories. The motion tracker on the left and catbox on the right are new items entirely and have never previously appeared in NECA’s long running line of REEL TOYS ALIEN figures. Jones the cat on the far right will be his third appearance as an accessory in a NECA Ripley pack. The catbox appears to have a hinged front so it can be opened up and Jones can be roughly stuffed inside. Get back in yer box, Jones. You little shithead. Continue reading

Robot Kingdom Posts NECA 40th Anniversary Images.

Robot Kingdom have posted a set of 8 images on Facebook of what appears to be the first set of three items in NECA’s upcoming range of 40th Anniversary ALIEN 7 inch figures. This first round (of 3, totaling 9 figures) includes the translucent concept Alien suit, Ripley and Dallas in compression suit.

Each of these figures have previously been released by NECA but these offer fresh attention to detail, not least of which will be the faces printed onto the characters rather than painted on. This updated detail alone should be phenomenal. Other than that, we’ve seen ’em all before. Here’s some more info from Robot Kingdom’s online store, “Neca Alien – 7” Scale Action Figure – 40th Anniversary Assortment 1 set of 3 (Ripley (Jumpsuit), Dallas (Compression Suit), Big Chap (Concept)).Photos for reference only, exact product appearance is subject to manufacturer final confirmation. Preorder. Available in April 2020.”  It appears like a potential ALIEN Day release to me and the price looks set to be US$69.90 for this set of 3 figures.

I must say, that motion tracker looks neat.  Actually, they all do, but other than the tracker and the new Jones cat box accessory these characters are all repeats! When do we see Brett and Parker get released?  Those 2 characters are definitely anxiously anticipated by fans.

NECA Reveals 40th Anniversary 7 Inch ALIEN Packaging.

It’s Facehugger Friday and we all know what that means, right Kiddies?  Right!  NECA revealed on Facebook today images of the packaging for their upcoming 7 inch REEL TOYS 40th Anniversary ALIEN action figures.  Much like their recently released 22 inch figure, these are themed along the same retro package design of the original Kenner ALIEN box as it appeared on toy store shelves in 1979.NECA have also provided us with a shot of their upcoming Brett figure facing the Alien.  Complete with Jones in the background.  I wonder if Jones will be an accessory to the Brett figure as much as he was an accessory to his murder.  Anyway, here’s what NECA have to say about this release of figures, “The Alien 40th Anniversary collection is coming. 3 series of 3 figures each. Some amazing figure debuts! New accessories! Printed facial deco! Special packaging! Limited editions!!” Continue reading

NECA Reveals Rhino Alien Packaging

It’s Facehugger Friday, and we all know what that means, kiddies. Today on Twitter, NECA revealed the packaging their upcoming Rhino Alien figure will appear in.

We saw the artwork of the creature to be displayed on the packaging just last week so here it is applied to the box. This brutish fiend is the latest in NECA’s line of Kenner tribute ALIEN action figures. Here’s what NECA have to say about this imageWe can’t forget #facehuggerfriday here’s your first look at the Rhino packaging…sweet sweet nostalgia.” Sweet sweet weird junk, if you ask me.  I’m game and can’t get enough of it. No release information or pricing details are available just yet.

TOYARK Reviews NECA 40th Anniversary Big Chap.

TOYARK have posted a full review and image gallery of NECA’s 40th Anniversary 7 inch Ultimate Big Chap action figure due out soon. They seem to like it. This version of the figure features updated sculpting, improved articulation and some accessories such as the egg, facehugger and chestburster. It all comes packaged in a nice, neat ALIEN poster themed gatefold box with a window displaying the figure when opened. Look, I think it’s just easier if you go read the review, alright?

Thanks for the appraisal, TOYARK. I’ve always loved your work.
