REVIEWED: 2014 SH MonsterArts ALIEN Big Chap Figure.

Alien Action figures generally come in all sizes ranging from 2 inches to 24 inches tall.  Intuitively, you’d think the larger items would be more detailed with greater articulation than their smaller counterparts and surprisingly that’s quite often not the case.

Consider Bandai’s SH MonsterArts 2014 Big Chap figure.  This item is less than 7 inches tall and yet it boasts an excess of over 40 points of attachment, movement and articulation.  Can you spot them all?

You don’t have to.  Just read the review on this surprising little figure and find out what it’s merits – and minor demerits – really are.

HIDEOUS PLASTIC – The Book’s 18 Month Goal.

It’s time to start talking about my plans regarding my continuing work effort on this Project.  In this post-KickStarter period the book is still under development and progressing well.

I’ve restructured my work load and expect to be able to publish HIDEOUS PLASTIC – In stores everyone can hear you scream. sometime in late 2018.  In order to do so, I’ll be raising funds personally via my own means as well as engaging in another KickStarter Continue reading

Funko Neomorph POP! Figure.

Here’s Funko’s upcoming Neomorph POP! figure based on the critter that appears in ALIEN: Covenant.  It looks like this toothy Neomorph will be accompanied by it’s juvenile form, the ‘Toddler’, in this package.

I must admit, this looks… amazing.   Normally, the Funko POP! figures don’t appeal to me at all; but this specimen really makes me think about purchasing one.  Despite the fact that Continue reading

The lurid red and purple vinyl cast figure will be exclusive to the event.  So if you want one, turn up.  Optionally, keep an eye on Super7’s online store as any remaindered stock (if Continue reading

Danny McBride Shows Off New NECA ALIEN Covenant figure.

This image appeared on NECA’s Twitter account today of ALIEN Covenant actor Danny McBride (Captain Tennessee) showing off NECA’s new ALIEN Covenant action figure of the movie’s final Alien.  McBride is accompanied here by Randy Falk, NECA’s Director of Product Development.

McBride looks verrry happy with the new figure.  It looks like he’s signed it, too.  I’m hoping the box packaging we see here is going to be the one we see on store shelves rather than Continue reading

NECA Posts Meredith Vickers in Blister Test Package Image.

NECA posted an image of the blister package layout today of their upcoming Meredith Vickers (Charlize Theron) action figure.  The first of 3 new figures in their PROMETHEUS Lost Wave Series 4 action figures on Twitter.

Looks good to me.  I always liked Vickers as a character.  She was one of the brighter sparks on board the Prometheus and carried a well defined no bullshit “I like to minimise risk” attitude that the other characters lacked.  Well, up until she died that is.  Anyway, Continue reading

Older Reviews Ported Over to their New Home.

As part of my current restructuring and plan for forward movement along with using this site as my base of operations for all things hideous and plastic, I’m slowly upgrading and adding content to the site.  Today I completed the porting of a bunch of older reviews over to hideousplastic.com.  I wrote them.  They belong here.  Now they’re home.

Links to these items already existed on this site but the content was previously hosted on AvP Galaxy.  The content is now residing here under a single umbrella with all my other Continue reading

REVIEWED: Hiya Toys Colonial Marines Xenomorph Boiler.

It’s time for me to move on and leave KickStarter behind.  I’ve got quite the workload of restructuring ahead of me and one of my big priorities is to keep traffic flowing through this site.  I can’t think of anything better than posting a review of some weird thing I have lying around.

Anything will do at this stage.  Even a review of an action figure from a 4 year old video game that almost everyone hated.  So here it is.  My examination of Hiya Toys 1:18 scale Colonial Marines Xenomorph Boiler action figure.  The game was shit.  Is this ugly little runt more of the same – or is it worth picking up 4 years later?  Find out in this review.
