Visualisation Hard Copy Printed.

Here is the first hard copy version of the book.  It’s a visualisation copy for me to take to printers so I can provide them with a physical sample with which they can understand more clearly what the end goal will be and provide me with accurate quotes.

I’ve known for a long time there’s a big difference between telling a printer “I want a book made” and actually handing over a preliminary physical copy so they can gain a thorough understanding of what the end goal is intended to be.

This visualisation copy is in A4 format and printed in black and white.  There’s just a single copy at the moment to aid in gaining quotes from editors, book designers, printers and binders.  Black and white is used because it’s cost effective at this stage with the final print version will be colour throughout.  Later the book will also undergo a substantial redesign at some point before printing.

Here’s some of the sample pages of the current visualisation copy:

You may recognise these 2 pages. They’re from the FREE DOWNLOADABLE preview version of the current work in progress manuscript.

Here’s the opening pages to the 2nd Chapter, ‘Nightmare in Plastic: A Description’.  That full page facing image will be stunning in colour.

Chapter 4 embraces every repair technique known to Man!  Well, known to me, at least and I’ve picked up quite a lot of skills and techniques for repairing these old toys.  There aren’t many problems these old figures have than can’t be fixed.

Chapter 6 covers all the post 1979 ALIEN action figures that were directly derived from the old toy.  Here’s Super 7’s most recent ALIENS speculation figure released just last year.  Like all of these oddities, it’s covered thoroughly in this chapter.

At this stage, the book is coming along solidly and armed with this hard copy I’ll be able to approach printers and other necessary services with a tool that will assist greatly in acquiring quotes and costings.  Once I have acquired these figures, it will be time to start organising the KickStarter campaign.

So far.  So good.
