HIDEOUS PLASTIC Proposed Vols. 2&3 Titles Revealed.

It’s no secret I intend HIDEOUS PLASTIC to be a trilogy of books about ALIEN action figures and toys.

While In stores everyone can hear you scream. is more than capable of existing as a solitary stand alone title, it could just as easily be the first volume in a trilogy.  The basic outline plans for Volumes 2&3 have been already drawn up and their contents largely determined.  The subtitles on the images below will provide a clue to their proposed content.

HIDEOUS PLASTIC – This time it’s more. is intended to cover all ALIEN action figures and toys since 1979 ranging from the original 1979 Kenner item through toys they released in the 1990’s right up to today’s latest derivative releases.  Everything from Mcfarlane, Halcyon and Tsukuda Hobby along with every ALIEN figure from Marmit, Kotubukiya, SEGA, SideShow and beyond will be featured in the book. Entries by NECA, Super 7, Gentle Giant, Eaglemoss, Funko and many other manufacturers will also be represented in this book.  An extensive product bibliography will be present and the book is estimated to be around 250 pages in length.

To say the least, this volume will be a substantial piece of work and an ambitious Project in its own right:

Volume 3, HIDEOUS PLASTIC – Whatever sells we buy. will document all the PREDATOR and ALIENS vs PREDATOR figures and toys in a similar manner.  This volume will round out the set of 3 books and is estimated to contain approximately 200 pages.  By no definition is this hefty item a slouch:

The format of these 2 books will differ greatly from the first.  Clearly, I can’t dedicate hundreds of pages to individual action figures as is the case with the first book; but I can structure these 2 books appropriately.  Half, full or 2 page spreads will be dedicated to each figure. Each entry will consist of images, manufacturer specifics, release details and relevant notes.  Once again, like the first volume, they’ll both be high level resource books for collectors rather than casual coffee table ornaments.

Needless to say this is an enterprise of significant proportions.  First things first, though.  HIDEOUS PLASTIC – In stores everyone can hear you scream. must be a success at KickStarter.  The future of these follow up volumes is 100% dependent on this success.   I have the infrastructure set up to follow through with these books.  A plan is in place for their development.  The legal issues and responsibilities involved are understood.  I have a website set up.  All the tools are in my possession.  I have discussed it with my publisher who loves the idea.

These books are just waiting to be written but will also need to be financed.

Committing a pledge to this current Project will go a long way to make this unique trilogy a reality.  To help further this cause, an incentive to encourage people who are currently undecided about backing HIDEOUS PLASTIC – In stores everyone can hear you scream. will soon be posted to inspire you to support with a pledge:

In order to increase the chances of success for its publication, I will soon be holding a 48 hour ‘HeartStarter FLASH SALE’.

The KickStarter campaign page will be offering this promotion in a couple of days, from March 14 to March 16, 2017.  I am hoping you will respond to it favorably.  Especially, if you are currently on the fence about deciding to support this Project.  I strongly recommend you keep an eye out for the upcoming ‘FLASH SALE’.  I will be announcing it here and the usual places I frequent.

Not only do I need your support to publish HIDEOUS PLASTIC – In stores everyone can hear you scream.; but the pair of follow up volumes need it even more.  Due to the expansive nature and volume of research required, I can’t continue working and developing them without the necessary financial support to fill the spaces between those covers.

If fortune smiles upon me, work will commence on Vol. 2 in early 2018.  We’ll get there. 🙂

Thank you for your attention.
