KickStarter – The 30 Day Report.

March is over and we are now into the 2nd and final month of the 60 day KickStarter campaign to raise funds to publish the book.  29 days remain on the campaign so we are more or less at the half way mark and this report documents the current status of the KickStarter campaign and its goals.  Both immediate and long term.

Right now, the fund raising exercise is under-performing considerably. At $4,217 in pledges made by 42 Backers to date, only 16% of the Primary Goal of $25,000 has been raised.  At this rate, the campaign is struggling to raise much needed funds.  Mind you, 29 days still remain for the campaign so there is a good possibility we can still be successful if more pledges are made.

Recent work in the critical area of social networking by associate Matthew McNamara has increased the rate of pledges during the past week, raising the amount of pledges from 9% to 16% in several days.  This is a significant improvement in the rate of pledges but an increase is still necessary and this is the current goal for the campaign.  Right now, continued promotion for the book and the campaign is still underway.

Other KickStarter campaigns starting with only 30 days on the clock have succeeded to raise more. We can do so, too.

The social networking being performed by Matthew has been of invaluable asset to the Project as a whole.  While the campaign currently has a low pledge rate it has improved and continues to do so.  Of equal value to the Project overall, quite literally thousands of people now know of the book’s existence.  That’s not a claim I could have made at the start of the campaign and nor do I take its greater implications lightly.  Especially when so many people – just about everyone – has expressed a positive response to the Project as a whole.

People want to see HIDEOUS PLASTIC – In stores everyone can hear you scream. be published.

This exposure to people who otherwise had not known of the book’s existence means the KickStarter campaign has already been a success in terms of promotion.  As an awareness raising exercise, it has already successfully performed a Secondary Goal – get the word out to people this book is in development.  Their expectations are to be met regardless of the campaign’s outcome.

Ultimately it falls to me to continue working on this Project regardless of whether the fund raising element of the campaign succeeds or not when it is closes on April 29.  To this end I will continue working diligently on this Project until the book is completed.  Of course, raising funds now through KickStarter would make the process easier but I’ll fund it by other means if I have to.

The only difference this will make to people interested in the book is simple.  A pledge to this campaign now means the book is delivered by Christmas, 2017.  Otherwise, it will happen sometime thereafter instead.

This is a responsibility I shall joyfully embrace in either eventuality to ensure its completion.

Finally, to the 42 Backers who have already made Pledges, I gratefully appreciate your support.  People expressing such confidence will make this book happen.  May you be joined by many more.  Tell your friends.  Tell your friends to tell their friends.

Thank you.
