Custom ALIEN Pez Dispensers.

PEZ is a world renowned Austrian confectionery manufacturer known for producing manually operated candy dispensers containing a dozen small candy pieces. Licenced characters from popular movies and TV shows often serve as flip tops for this iconic confectionary brand. ALIEN has never been licenced by PEZ for this purpose, likely because the property falls outside the company’s child friendly mandate.

Nonetheless, images of ALIEN PEZ dispensers are often posted on Facebook and forums and naturally some people want to know where to get one. The truth is these items are unique custom made pieces and the most well known of these art objects was designed by artist Rat D. Only a single sample of this custom piece was made and it frequently appears online quickly followed by requests on where to purchase one. Of course, this is not possible as these samples are fashioned by artists affixing an Alien head to a PEZ dispenser.

Like all other PEZ ALIEN samples on this page, it never shared any licencing permissions from the property owners it appears to represent and is a unique item. More details regarding the construction of this particular sample can be found here. Rat D’s famous custom ALIEN PEZ dispenser isn’t the only known sample. If it can’t exist officially, then someone will make it.

Artist Myla Nery Lara, contributes her interpretation of what a PEZ ALIEN would be like with this pair of home made candy dispensers. The heads are constructed in resin cast from an silicon ALIEN head ice tray mold with tails made from a TITAN 4.5 inch mini ALIEN figure. The ALIEN ice tray mold was a fully licenced and official retail product released a few years back by Japanese company Kotobukiya and since its release has become a a frequently employed tool in artist’s kits for creating all manner of custom projects.

Here are more some more images of one of these samples of Myla’s handiwork.

Also known is possibly the (unconfirmed) oldest known sample of a PEZ ALIEN dispenser. This item is believed to have been constructed by an unknown production cast member involved in the making of an ALIEN movie. Claims of this nature are difficult to verify or refute but certainly, the resin head on this sample appears to be cast from a Halcyon Alien with Egg styrene model kit. This fact dates the custom made item at no older than 1991.

Other alternate configurations are known to exist using different Alien heads. The custom PEZ dispenser below uses the 1992 Kenner ALIENS Queen head. This unusual art object is in the possession of Wilhelm H Deinbeck.

This fine example of a custom made ALIEN PEZ dispenser  below owned by Douglas Germond uses a black painted vintage 1997 Kenner ALIEN Resurrection warrior figure as a head.  No rules apply to making these things as they are unique custom items made by fans to fuel their own creative desire to fill a need where no formal or official product exists.

ALIEN Resurrection receives its fair share of creative customisation in the form of these resin cast Newborn pieces. They are cast in poly-resin and hand painted in a classic color-way representing the Newborn.

PEZ will probably never formally licence the ALIEN property to mount ALIEN heads on top of their popular confectionery dispensers. The product is primarily marketed to children, and like other popular family friendly corporate entities won’t associate their product with a character from an R-rated movie.

It’s very unlikely to happen and the best we can hope for is one day such product based on the 2004 ALIENS vs PREDATOR movie will one day see release as that movie was rated PG-13. Instead, it’s up to fans and dedicated artists prepared to fill this strange void with unique and limited run art objects that would otherwise never exist.

I’m always interested in expanding this page. Contact me if you have a custom PEZ ALIEN dispenser you would like to see posted here. Credit is provided where ever possible to artists and/or owners.
