ALIEN Day, 2019 saw Super7 releasing a pair of distinctive blue and red figures of the Alien and Kane. Distinctive card art and design for this pair of figures features striking content based on unused ALIEN poster art created by famous movie poster artist, Bill Gold. Made available as a pair, these figures celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the release of the movie, ALIEN.

Both items are cast in translucent plastic, with figure specific features standing out. Kane’s suit is translucent with various individual parts highlighted in opaque red, including his helmet. An off-white facehugger is permanently affixed to his face. The Alien is cast in translucent blue plastic throughout, including the dome. The Alien figure is also filled with silver glitter flecks. Various body areas of the figure such as the ankles, elbows and torso are highlighted in black paint.

– ALIEN Day is an annual celebration of all things relating to the ALIEN series and is celebrated on 4/26 (April 26) each year. The significance of the date is it’s association with the world known as LV-426. This fictional planetoid is the origin of the Alien. It is where the eponymous creature is first encountered by the crew of the Nostromo.
– While this set of two figures celebrated the 40th Anniversary of the release of ALIEN (1979), they became available on April 26, 2019. A misnomer, as ALIEN was released on May 25th, a date not yet reached in 2019 when these figures were released.
– Both figures use different card art appearing on their fronts and backs, making all art content unique to each card in this set.
– One of only a few ALIEN ReAction product line items that does not display the ALIEN logo prominently on packaging.
– This pair of items were available online in the Super7 webstore and at their San Francisco and San Diego stores on Friday, April 26 2019.
– The tagline “There are things so terrifying, they only exist in a nightmare… or outer space.” adorns the back of the card for the translucent blue Alien figure; while the unused tagline “A word of warning… ALIEN” appearing on the Bill Gold poster art remains unused.
– The compression suit Kane featuring the breached faceplate is the Wave 3 variant.
– This paired character choice duplicates Super7’s first release of two figures in the ReAction figure line comprising of the Alien and Kane in a compression suit. These two characters were initially released as a pair of pale blue “advance promotional samples” in a small box marked “TOYFAIR 1979” at Comic Con, 2013. Which in turn, were originally released as tribute items to the well documented but unproduced prototype 3.75 inch Kane and Alien action figure samples Kenner originally made in 1979 that were subsequently cancelled.
