This hardcopy of Space Marine Vasquez is made of colored resin. Some mystery surrounds the use of resins for this item. A number of different and unverified narratives surround it. These Kenner employee stories range from resins used during this stage of production were changed due to employee theft; along with anecdotes simply stating such materials were swapped around during production depending on what materials were available to employees at the time.

It is most highly likely the resin choice was done purposefully as the color palette approximates the final production paint colors used on the 2nd variant of Vasquez thus making it easier to apply paint coatings to create a paint master prototype.

Only three prototypes of this figure are known to exist.
