This test shot of the Panther Alien demonstrates a close affinity with the design of the creature that appears in ALIEN 3, featuring a quadrupedal stance and sleek appearance.
The action feature present in this figure when it was released was its ability to launch a spring loaded ‘Flying attack parasite!’ when the head is tipped forward. Presumably designed and tested with this purpose in mind, the parasite accessory is missing from this prototype figure and the point between its shoulders where it would normally be seated is visible in the photos below.
Along with a number of paint variants, Kenner’s Panther Alien was also cast as the black and red striped Night Cougar Alien.
