Listed right now for sale on eBay is a dismantled Kenner ALIEN toy.  It’s not just disassembled, the head has been snapped away from the neck and the usual pieces – the dome and shoulder crest – are both missing.  How much is this collection of dismembered 4 decades old blended styrene pieces actually worth?

Clearly the item included in the listing is well beyond being considered complete.  You could re-assemble the figure and it will tidy up nicely.  There’s a few special tasks needed to get the arms and head back onto the figure and maybe tighten up the legs; but when cleaned up, it would still be a great display item.   Or, these same parts could be distributed among other ALIEN toys missing any of these parts. This will be a nice pick up for someone either way.

Bidding started at US$0.99 earlier today and since then 4 bidders have already expressed a keen interest in the item.  Let’s have a think about this for a minute.  There’s still more than 6 days to go and people are already clamoring over who’s going to land this prize pile of disconnected parts.  It’s not even a complete figure by any standards.  The final sale could be anything.  How much?  It’s hard to guess.  Apparently, loose and broken parts for an ugly 40 year old toy are in reasonable demand.  Who would have guessed..?  lol.

I’ll be watching this sale with great interest as this is always good free entertainment.  Let’s see how much this pile of debris gets sold for.
