There’s something to be said for the condition of some samples of this toy and close inspection reveals this one is heavily mutilated. The left sides of the head shoulder and arm of this figure are severely heat damaged. You really have to be careful bidding on these 40 year old vintage toys. They can be in any condition. Always read the description. Always check the photos. Be aware of what should be included with the figure. While this figure includes both the dorsal crest and the poster, it lacks the dome that should be sitting on top of its head. Always be prepared to contact the vendor and find out what is included and its condition.

Significantly, after only a few hours this auction has sky rocketed from US$0.99 to more than US$140 with 23 bids already on the table. It’s a less than perfect sample of the figure, incomplete without the dome and certainly no box is included in the deal and yet bidders have already demonstrated high interest in the listing, pushing the final value price into three figures very quickly with nine days on the clock still remaining.

So is this degraded forty year old toy and a single double sided black and white poster really worth this kind of attention and money?

Yes. Yes, it is actually. The poster alone is worth around US$100. They frequently sell for less – but posters selling for more than US$100 are common. The mangled toy is probably worth around US$50 to 80. Possibly more. US$180 for the pair isn’t unreasonable. This listing has plenty of time to go well beyond US$200 in the coming week.  It will be interesting to watch this auction go final.
