eBay – Kenner ALIEN Toy for Sale.

There’s been a significant slow down in recent listings of these vintage Kenner ALIEN toys on eBay lately. This is no doubt due to the impact Covid-19 has on the world and many people have become concerned in more immediate and pressing issues. Nonetheless, here’s an average condition sample of ye olde Kenner Alien action figure being auctioned on eBay. Bidding starts at a lofty US$198. He’s a little rough around the edges, broken and missing a few parts – and the seller wants around US$200 for it. What else is new?

At a glance, it’s not a bad looking sample of the toy. That doesn’t mean it’s not without issues. It’s missing the usual parts – the dome on the head, the crest on its back and both halves of the tongue. Unfortunately, it’s issues don’t end there, either. Let’s take a closer look at this average condition candidate for your collection of grisly space monsters.

Damage on these old toys is very common and this sample is no different. The slot where that aforementioned crest should be mounted is damaged, leaving a gaping hole in its back that will no longer hold a crest in place even if one is found. The right leg has also been damaged at the ankle. Such damage to the foot is easily done to the toy when it is dropped. Something will break if gravity has its wicked way with these old toys. The damage has been fixed, though and it does appear to be a decent repair – but that still doesn’t negate the fact it is damaged.

Some scuff marks on the glow in the dark paint on the head along with a thin coating of dust here and there are small detractions from the presentation of this toy. A good clean with mild soapy water and an old toothbrush in the kitchen sink will do wonders for this guy. It’ll look great with just a little attention. I assure you of that. The rest of his limbs are attached and look good while the tail is attached with its delicate tip present.

Despite the fact this item is incomplete and damaged, the seller will probably successfully sell this forty year old toy for around US$200 – or more – despite the current global health crisis. I guess that old adage is true. The more things change – the more they stay the same. I’ll be watching this item with interest.
