Finally NECA have spilled the beans on what they plan to release based on the upcoming Ridley Scott move, ALIEN: Covenant. While there’s no pretty pictures of most of what will be hitting shelves until the movie is released on May 19 at least we have some descriptions of what to expect; and that’s a good thing!
Here’s the line up of what we can expect and the available descriptions:
7″ Scale Acton Figure – New Creature: A(n) horrific new creature will be featured in our Alien: Covenant product line!
7″ Scale Action Figure – Xenomorph: This screen accurate version of the chilling Xenomorph features over 30 points of articulation and a bendable tail. Clamshell packaging.
Accessory Pack – Deluxe Creature Pack: This deluxe creature pack includes 6 pieces from the upcoming movie that will make for some mind-blowing dioramas, since they’re perfectly in scale with our line of 7″ figures.
Scalers – 2″ MiniCharacters – New Creature: Scalers are cute, collectible mini characters that attach to headphone cords, cables, straps and more for on-the-go fun. Each one measures just 2” high.
Head Knocker – New Creature: Each Head Knocker stands approximately 8″ tall with bobbling head. It’s cast in resin and then hand painted for incredible detail, down to the themed base. Comes in collectible matte finish packaging with spot gloss.
Body Knocker – New Creature: Solar-powered Body Knockers let you enjoy hours of fun with your favorite characters – no batteries needed! Each stands approximately 6.5” tall and rocks from side to side when exposed to light.
That’s quite a lot of product NECA have lifted the cloth from and I am particularly interested in the 7″ content. Looks like I will be very satisfied in that regard. The ‘new creature’, Xneomorph and accessory pack each have my attention. Definitely going to have to save my pennies for their release in May.
While NECA will not be providing any information on most of these items until the movie is released on May 19, NECA will reveal images and information for the Xenomorph action figure as early as April. This is going to be the first public viewing of the figure. Too excited for that one!
The ‘new creature’ is clearly intended to be the Neomorph we have been hearing a lot about lately and that should be a great reveal in itself. Significantly, it looks like we will get to see the new Xenomorph design in April, earlier than the bulk of NECA’s line up. Now, that is one figure I’m definitely looking forward to seeing. As for the accessory pack? I’m curious about that one. I’m guessing it will feature a few of David 8’s ‘Neomorphs on a stick’ laboratory displays. Personally, I’d like one of those. But at a 1:1 scale. Yeah. I’d purchase a lifesize lab display snothead to sit on my desk.
One thing for sure, NECA are delivering big time on this movie. This is a solid range of product from a single manufacturer. Just a speculation here: Would a company take risks like this on a movie they didn’t feel confident in it? Sure, companies provide product based on movies that bomb all the time; but there’s a level of confidence here that suggests ALIEN: Covenant may be what we have been needing to see on the big screen for a long, long time.
Let’s hope this all works out. If the movie is good, I’ll be happy and NECA can have my wallet for breakfast. I won’t mind at all.
