Posted on Super 7’s instagram is this image:This item excites me a lot.  What this item appears to be is the mass market edition of Super 7’s faux prototype 1986 ALIENS figure released in 2016.  This item displays all the features and charactistics of that item, an item that was derived from the original 1979 Kenner ALIEN action figure, but this item looks to very much aimed at a mass market.

Also glimpsed in this image is what appears to be the box this figure will be distributed in.  Black, with green border and the diagonal bar that reads ‘As Seen in the Movie!’.  This is a clear homage to the original blue box the original Kenner item was packaged in 38 years ago.

Super7 have a tradition of releasing their ALIEN licenced merchandise in a limited edition blue packaging and then releasing a black mass market edition sometime later.  They did this with their ReAction figures – and they’re following suit with the new, presumably, 18″ tall 1986 ALIENS warrior.  This looks super cool.  If you always wanted a Kenner ALIEN but prefer the ALIENS of James Cameron’s sequel, this looks like the one to get.  …and you probably won’t have to sell your car to get one.

I love those boxes.  ’18” Posable ction Figure!’, ‘Mechanically Operated Jaws!’ and ‘Warning! ALIENS are here!’ are all homages to the original 1979 blue packaging. I really want to see what’s on the concealed back and left hand sides of them.

My bank account, my wallet and my wife are all going to have a heart attack.
