Japanese company, 52toys, is releasing a new ‘Transformer’ style ALIEN toy.  The MegaBox MB-01 ALIEN features a Xenomorph figure that is able to transform into a compact cube.  It also includes a Facehugger and Alien egg.

Big Bad Toy Store have the MEGABOX Alien ready for pre-order.  Price is US$29.99.  Release is estimated to be sometime in June, 2018.

Of most intriguing value is the figure’s ability to transform into a cube.  That might not be anywhere near as exciting as a truck or sports car; but it does carry its own significance in terms of content that was written but never filmed for the original 1979 movie.  Towards the closing moments, Ripley’s hurried attempt to abandon the Nostromo was hampered by the presence of a mysterious box sitting outside the shuttle airlock door.  Upon approaching the suspicious crate, it unfolded, stood upright and revealed itself to be the Alien.  This figure is the only known instance where an action figure has come close to replicating the creature’s folded form contained within the deleted ‘box alien’ scene.
