Hammerhead ReAction ALIEN Sold Out.

It looks like Super7’s latest Hammerhead tribute item in their long running ALIEN ReAction figure range has been a sell out success.  The figure was originally available as an exclusive item at this past weekend’s San Diego Comic Con.  Surplus stock was very briefly available on Super7’s online store.  Unfortunately, the item proved to be popular and stock was sold out within 2 hours.

Was I lucky enough to score one of these?  Nope.  Not at all. Living in Australia makes attending a con on the other side of the planet very difficult.  More so, when surplus stock was available for their brief time online, I would have been asleep. Flat Earthers may believe otherwise, but time zones are proof the Earth is round.   Sometimes living here sucks when all the fun is happening elsewhere.

Anyway, sometimes Super7 have been known to ‘discover’ unsold stock and it becomes available online at a later date.  Maybe I’ll just keep an eye out.  It may be too much to hope for but the alternative is pay double or triple for the same item on Ebay.  The winners here are the attendees who buy up several items and make a killing online from people not able to attend.

Super7, you’ve got to find a better way to service your loyal fanbase and not have them be abused and be the victims of pirates.  I’ll even offer you a possible solution:  Maybe you can start up a Loyalty Club on your site.  Use it to reserve convention only items for those who are registered with the club; and sell  the reserved stock to them (limit 1 item per registration) following the closure of the event. That way, people who really want them can buy them.  Then, any surplus stock still in hand could be sold online.  That way, everyone wins.   Coz the way it is now, only the scalpers win – and you’re risking gaining an irate fan base as a result.

Anyway, I am hoping I can still get my hands on one of these li’l fellas without paying too much.  As you can see from the image above, it’s just abusive to expect to pay $60+ for an item that should cost no more than $20.  I guess I should be appreciative and not complain because, after all, they’re being kind to offer ‘Free postage’, huh.
