The SPACE VILLAIN series of ALIEN ReAction figures have become an irregularly appearing series of blind box items, of which this set (A-2) consists of four figures. As these are blind box items, the concealed content of each box was unknown to the purchaser until it was opened. These individually boxed items were available either singly or in cases of 12 directly from Super7’s online store or other retailers.
The versions of the Alien represented in the product line up consist of: Supernova, Blood Moon, Dwarf Star and Space Dust Alien. No accessories or additional items were included other than a plain, unmarked clear plastic bag each figure was packed within each box.
Supernova Alien.
Translucent “amber” figure with silver glitter flecks throughout.
Blood Moon Alien.
Pale glow in the dark figure randomly decorated with red blood spatter spots.
Dwarf Star Alien.
Opaque blue figure with dark blue wash.
Space dust Alien.
Opaque brown figure with dark bown wash.
Additional notes:
– SPACE VILLAIN Series 2 (A-2) figures are more accurately the 3rd series of ALIEN ReAction figure items to be sold in a ‘blind box’ format, 2014’s Deep Space Mystery Eggs being the first.
– The design of the box packaging mimics Japanese Popy Empire Strikes Back blind box product line of the 1980s.
– While some Japanese characters were present on the package for the A-1 blind box packaging, they became more prominent in this series, including replacing the word ALIEN on the box.
– Prior to release, the design of the Supernova variant was undisclosed to the public. It wasn’t until blind boxes were opened that the mystery figure’s appearance was revealed.
– The figure on the front of the box is the Space Dust variant. Other variants in this series were publicly promoted.
– The Supernova figure is the rarest of the set, making it the most valuable of this release.
– Blood Spatter on the Blood Moon figure is sprayed on giving each sample of this item a unique pattern. No two are alike.
– The blood spatter design element present on the display case these figures were sold in emulates the blood spatter design of the Blood Moon figure.
– This set of figures were also purchasable in cases of twelve boxed units per case. Distribution numbers of figures present in each case were exactly alike with each case containing:
1/12 – Supernova.
3/12 – Dwarf Star.
4/12 – Space Dust.
4/12 – Blood Moon.
