REVIEWED: Super 7, Wave 3 ALIEN ReAction Figures. Set 2.

Here’s my third and final review for Super7’s Wave 3 ALIEN ReAction figures. This is set No.2 and it features Brett and Parker’s debut in this popular 3.75 inch format.

…oh, and there’s yet another version of our galactic bug bear friend, the Alien.  It’s a great set.  I like it.  There’s a lot to be satisfied with here – but it’s also missing in other ways.

Read the review and find out where this set wins – and where it loses.

REVIEWED: Super 7, Wave 3 ALIEN ReAction Figures. Set 3.

It’s time for another review. This time let’s throw the spotlight onto Wave 3, set 3 of Super7’s USCSS Nostromo crew ALIEN ReAction Figures.

It’s not as feature packed as set No.1.  It doesn’t have anywhere near as many accessories, either.  What’s more, most of its content we’ve seen released before.  So is it worth getting at all?

You’ll have to decide for yourself in this review.

VIDEO REVIEW: Eaglemoss Mega Scale ALIENS Warrior Statue.

A relative newcomer to the ALIEN and PREDATOR property, Eaglemoss sure has enjoyed a prolific output to date.  As such, their product can vary considerably.  One example of high quality is their Mega Scale ALIENS warrior statue.  It’s fitting we appreciate this larger scale figure from the stand point of someone with a keen interest and a sense of balanced criticism.

To this end, fellow ALIEN enthusiast, Michael Floyd takes us on an informative whirlwind appraisal noting the pros and cons of what Eaglemoss have to offer with this item.  Thanks, Michael, for the video review.

NECA Reveals ALIEN Resurrection Queen Alien Figure.

NECA have posted information on their website for their upcoming ALIEN Resurrection Queen figure.  Looks largely like a recasting of their earlier iteration of the Queen from a couple years back; but the addition of this figure to their soon to be released ALIEN: Resurrection line is most welcome.

Here is what NECA have to say about HRH: “She stands over 15″ tall and is over 30″ long, with over 30 points of articulation, including a spectacular posable tail. Bring some of the movie’s most thrilling scenes to life in realistic detail, because the Queen is completely in scale with NECA’s 7″ Alien action figure line.

Includes a display stand and two different interchangeable inner mouths.” More information on this upcoming figure can be found on NECA’s announcement.

Know You’re Buying a Kenner ALIEN.

During the course of the last 40 years, there’s been dozens of ALIEN action figures manufactured by many, many licencees.  The 1979 Kenner ALIEN toy was one of the first (pre-dated only by the MPC model kit). It’s also been reproduced at least 12 times.  As so many iterations of the figure have appeared over the past 4 decades, it’s not surprising some confusion may exist between different versions.  Take this ALIEN figure for sale on ebay for example.

He’s missing a few parts here and there; notably the dome on his head, the spike on his back and his tongue pieces are all absent.  These items are commonly missing from these old toys and their absence will significantly devalue the figure.  Nonetheless, he’s an original Kenner toy but the vendor has erroneously listed him as a Gentle Giant figure.  Continue reading

REVIEWED: Super7 1986 Marine Ambush ALIENS Figure.

Super7’s Marine Ambush tribute figure was released in February, 2019.  We’ve known about its development for a couple of years now and this version of the figure brings it to a total of 4.

I have reviewed it here on HIDEOUS PLASTIC.  Is it any good?  Will you want one..?  That depends…

Is it more of the same thing?  Or simply just… more of the same thing..?

1979 Kenner ALIEN Ebay Bidding War.

Incredible as it may seem, 40 year old Kenner ALIEN action figures are actually worth a lot of money. With this information in mind, let’s take a look at one of the pitfalls of purchasing one of these old toys, buying it at auction on eBay. This recently sold sample is in less than stellar condition and it fetched a respectable sum. Significantly, the arms are broken off and half of the tongue is missing. At least the head dome is present- and that’s a feature many purchasers will pay good money for. This auction is over now so let’s take a look at how it went.

firstly, we should acquaint ourselves with the actual item for sale. Here’s the description the vendor provided for this listing, “Missing top part of inner jaw. Clear part that goes over head is a little cloudy.” It’s not a lot to go on but at the very least the vendor does have the integrity to acknowledge the figure isn’t complete and part of the tongue is missing.

1979 Kenner ALIEN – Buyer Beware!

It’s well known 1979 Kenner ALIEN action figures can fetch extremely high prices.  Find one in an unopened box, and the price escalates dramatically and you can expect them to be well over four figures.

Take this item for example, currently for sale on Ebay. It’s a little rough around the edges, as these boxes frequently are; but all the contents appear to be inside:  action figure, the red insert card it’s supposed to be attached to; and the B&W poster.  All of these items are present but is there anything missing?  Yes, actually.  There is.  Continue reading
