Pre-Order Eaglemoss Dillon and Burke from Entertainment Earth.

Eaglemoss are gracing us with some more human characters from the ALIEN movies in 1:16 scale figurine format and both are now available for pre-order from Entertainment Earth.

Dillon, a fan favorite; and by turns a villain, hero and victim in ALIEN 3.  Also coming from Eaglemoss is Burke, who shares those same attributes but in a completely different order due to his motivations.

Dillon is No.47 in the popular ALIEN and PREDATOR figurine series and is expected to be available sometime in February, 2019; while Burke is No.46 in the series and is expected to arrive a little earlier in January, 2019.  Both are made from a specially formulated resin, hand painted and will be 4.5 inches tall.

Pre-order Dillon and Burke from Entertainment Earth today.

Minor Updates to HIDEOUS PLASTIC Preview Edition.

I have made some minor updates to the Free downloadable PREVIEW EDITION of the upcoming book dedicated to the 1979 Kenner ALIEN action figure, HIDEOUS PLASTIC – In stores everyone can hear you scream.

While these updates are minor and may not account for much I am taking this opportunity to release this latest version with an important deadline.  Anyone wanting to submit corrections to the manuscript will be able to do so until August 31, 2018.

Please pass around word of this deadline and download the Free 30 page excerpt and check it out. This is important.  After August 31, the manuscript will be forwarded onto my legal advisor for approval and then passed onto the Editor.  All facts must be verified as correct at that time.  This will be the final opportunity to ensure the text is accurate prior to publication.  Any feedback to achieve this goal is welcome.

Thank you for your time.

MAFEX Big Chap Figure.

Medicom Mafex Figure Collectors Facebook page has posted an image of what looks like to be an upcoming Medicom Mafex release of the Big Chap.

Not a lot has been revealed other then this image of the figure but it looks to be in the 7 inch range.  Of note are the articulated toes and what appears to be double jointed knees.  This looks to be a terrific figure.  I’m looking forward to finding out more about this item as information is released.

It wouldn’t surprise me if this item will be released next year – ALIEN will have its 40th Anniversary next May and I’m expecting to see a lot of content much like this item announced and teased before then.

Hammerhead ReAction ALIEN Sold Out.

It looks like Super7’s latest Hammerhead tribute item in their long running ALIEN ReAction figure range has been a sell out success.  The figure was originally available as an exclusive item at this past weekend’s San Diego Comic Con.  Surplus stock was very briefly available on Super7’s online store.  Unfortunately, the item proved to be popular and stock was sold out within 2 hours.

Was I lucky enough to score one of these?  Nope.  Not at all. Living in Australia makes attending a con on the other side of the planet very difficult.  More so, when surplus stock was available for their brief time online, I would have been asleep. Flat Earthers may believe otherwise, but time zones are proof the Earth is round.   Sometimes living here sucks when all the fun is happening elsewhere. Continue reading

Super7 Hammerhead Tribute ALIEN Card Back Revealed.

Images of the card back for Super7’s Hammerhead tribute ALIEN ReAction figure have started to appear online.

I must say I have very mixed feelings about this item. I love the promotional content on the back of the card; and taking advantage of the real estate to reveal the full range of the next ALIEN ReAction figure is very welcome.  On the other hand, there’s a complete lack of any information as to why the figure itself is released in this color scheme.

Hollywood Collectibles SDCC ’18 Goodies on Show.

Hollywood Collectibles is showing off some neat goodies at their SDCC 2018 booth.  There’s a fine looking version of the Nostromo, which is always welcome.  I’m happy to see it on show but more appealing to me is the 1:3 scale statue of one of the Aliens that appear in ALIEN: Covenant.  This 27 inch figure looks amazing.HCG looks like they’ve done a real fine job on this one, then again they did use digital information provided by the ALIEN: Covenant movie makers to craft this item.  Preorders and more information are available now. Mamegyorai Product Page Now Live.

Mamegyorai have launched the product page for their upcoming 1:3 scale statue of the Big Chap.  While it’s completely in Japanese it’s a stunning page for what promises to be an even more stunning product of which 750 will be available worldwide.

This 28 inch tall statue will be released early next year.  Here’s the pre-order page for this item if you want one.  You may have to sell a kidney to afford one, but you don’t need 2 kidneys, right? …and you’ll have the dual benefits of owning a genuinely kick arse ALIEN statue AND live happily knowing you’ve probably saved someone’s life. Done Deal!

Anyway, if this item is being showcased at SDCC ’18.  Please throw me some info and especially photos.  Would love to hear from you; and you’ll be credited appropriately.

Actually, that goes for any ALIEN related stuff seen at the con.  Thank you. 🙂

Custom Made 3.75 Inch ‘Prototype’ ALIEN Figure.

San Diego Comic Con 2018 is almost upon us and will open this weekend with Super7’s con exclusive Hammerhead ALIEN ReAction figure making its debut. The soon to be available ReAction figure draws its influences from the unique kit bashed prototype  Alien action figure Kenner created as a visualisation exercise to prepare the company to manufacture their new 3.75 inch products to be released in 1980.

As the original Alien prototype utilises a Star Wars hammerhead figure as a base for the production sample item, it’s easy to see the attraction of pursuing a creative endeavor to create a custom version. After all, the Star Wars Hammerhead action figure is relatively easy to come by and all you need is the preparedness to modify it, add a few characteristic Alien features and paint it black. Super7 25% Discount on ALIENS ‘Prototype’ Figure.

The Super7 online store has a 25% discount sale for their 18 inch tall facsimile ALIENS ‘prototype’ figure.  Originally retailing for $195 it can now be yours for a mere $150.

More of a speculative limited edition item cast in mild blue plastic than a ‘prototype’, this figure is a derivative/tribute item of the good old 1979 Kenner ALIEN action figure we all love so much.  Notwithstanding some changes, much of the original Kenner articulation and features are present in this item, including the wonderful ‘mechanically operated jaws!’

So, if you’ve been wanting your very own oversized fake prototype action figure inspired by an ugly ass old toy that didn’t sell very well 40 years ago and don’t want to pay full price for it, then now’s your last opportunity!  Limited stocks remaining.  No doubt this will sell out soon.

Prototype Gallery Update – 1992, Gorilla Alien.

Ah, it’s been a while since I’ve had the joy of announcing any new character additions to this site’s Prototype Gallery.  It’s with great pleasure then that Kenner’s Gorilla Alien joins the ranks of production samples and prototypes.

This figure has definitely a popular item among fans and collectors and a number of prototype samples of Kenner’s 1992 Gorilla Alien have been added for your pleasure.

Special thanks to Derek Ho for his kindness in allowing me to post these images.

VIDEO REVIEW: Eaglemoss ALIEN Covenant Xenomorph

It’s our good friend, Baptiste Coudert; and he’s back again for another unboxing video review.  This time around he’s investigating the recently released Eaglemoss ALIEN Covenant Xenomorph figurine.  Or is it the Protomorph..?  …or maybe Xenomorph V1.0.  Hell.  I’ve seen it referred to each of these monikers at one point or another.

Anyway, check out the review:

Looks like a neat little piece.  I like it.  Its general morphology is very good and the detail is terrific.  The finger count on each hand is incorrect – it should have 1 thumb and 5 fingers but if it comes down to being petty on such nitty-gritty anomalies, hey that makes it a damn good item in my book.

Thank you once again for the review, Baptiste.  Always love your work.  More please!

Super7 Reveals Hammerhead ALIEN Details.

Super7 have revealed what some have speculated to be true.  The color scheme on their new 3.75 inch tall ALIEN ReAction figure is indeed based on the Hammerhead character from Kenner’s Star Wars line of action figures in the same scale.

Here’s what Super7 have to say about it, “Alien – Hammerhead Tribute Xenomorph 3.75″ ReAction Figure with coin. SDCC Exclusive. $15 each.”  So, we now know the front face of the card art will be.  I’m hoping the back side of the card features some Hammerhead art and maybe even info or possibly an image of the earliest known ALIEN prototype sample that used the old Star Wars character as a base.

I wonder what’s on the reverse side of that coin?  Looking forward to seeing this get released.  This thing does look pretty wild.

Here’s an earlier post that outlines the initial teaser reveal of the figure.

30% Off Super7’s Faux 1986 ALIENS at Big Bad Toy Store.

Looks like all the Kenner tribute items are up for 30% discount sale at Big Bad Toy Store.  Notably, Super7’s ‘Classic Toy Edition’ of their ALIENS Warrior is reduced from US$195 down to US$137.

It’s a fun 1:1 scale tribute item of the 18 inch tall Kenner figure. For $137, you can purchase a banged up version of the original Kenner figure or you can grab this brand spanking new version in a nifty 1980’s themed box (with poster) for the same amount.

All the features in the original are present in this version.  Here’s more info if you need it.

30% Off Gentle Giant’s ALIEN at Big Bad Toy Store.

Right now, Big Bad Toy Store has a 30% discount sale on Gentle Giant’s 24 inch tall iteration of the 1979 Kenner ALIEN action figure.
30% is a sizeable chunk off the recommended retail price. Instead of paying US$500, now you can just hand over US$350!  Bargain!  It’s a great tribute item of the Kenner figure and it stands a whopping 2 feet tall – 25% larger than the figure it was based on.

I get it.  That’s still expensive despite the discount and you can pick up an original Kenner figure the same price or less. Sometimes, including the box.  Speaking of the box, the packaging for this item is the bomb and notwithstanding a few changes here and the it honors the original box in most details.

If you want to know more about this item, I have it covered right here.  Aren’t you lucky?

Prototype Gallery Update – 1990 3.75 Inch Prototype.

Enough of this speculation regarding recently teased 3.75 inch prototype inspired ALIEN collectibles.  Let’s take a peek at the real deal, shall we? Just added to our gallery of 3.75 inch prototypes is this fantastic sample from the early 1990s.

This wonderful item is an in-house recasting of the cancelled 3.75 inch ALIEN figure from 1979.   It was as part of Kenner’s attempt to revive internal interest within the company for proposed production of these figures during the 1990’s.  You can read about this curious sample along with the rest of its history right here.

Thank you Derek Ho for permission to use this content.

Super7 Teases SDCC 2018 ReAction Alien Exclusive.

UPDATED.

Super7 have shared a pair of images on their Facebook page of their upcoming 2018 San Diego Comic Con exclusive of what appears to be a new iteration of their popular 3.75 inch ALIEN ReAction figure, the ‘Coin Alien’.

It’s been speculated the figure is intended as an oblique tribute to the original kit bashed concept piece made by Kenner in 1979.  An original 3.75 inch range Star Wars Hammerhead action figure was used as a base to create the first ALIEN prototype in this range. The color scheme on the Super7 item bares more than just a passing resemblance to that Kenner Star Wars character.  Continue reading
