Prime 1 Studios Warrior Alien Update.

Prime 1 Studio, maker of high end collectibles, has provided an update to their upcoming ALIENS Alien Warrior statue. While it looks like the design of the actual Alien Warrior has been finalised – and looks superb! – attention is now being focused on fine tuning the figure’s base.It already looks fine from these images but it’s just easier to have Prime 1 Studio recount in their own words what is now being done. As you’ll see in these Before and After photos, we re-sculpted the base to feature more detail and to take up a smaller footprint for ease of displaying. Take a look at the Production Sample pictures, and you’ll see the base embellishments are concentrated closer together, the acid burns in the steel grating are more film-accurate, and we added creepy Xenomorph resin all throughout the back of the base, among other things. For everyone waiting for the Warrior Alien, we thank you for your continued patience as Prime 1 Studio works to make this statue the very best version of itself!” Sounds like the quality of sculpt all round for this item is reaching the lofty goals of their earlier ALIEN figures without any compromise.

Here’s a Facebook Gallery of images of the current work in progress.

UPDATED – ImPerfect Organisms.

Today, I have added the first update item to this site’s new section, ImPerfect Organisms; an area dedicated to ALIEN production error samples. This update features a paint mishap displayed on an ALIEN Wave 3 Brett ReAction figure. Released from confinement of his his 3 pack box, Paul Snell, inspected the 3.75 inch action figure to find Brett’s face prominently displays this paint anomaly.

While this is a minor production error on this sample, it’s only the first of a much larger investigation, spearheading the much larger and varied twisted world of anomalous loose 3.75 inch tall ALIEN action figures. After all, as we have been instructed in the past, “Big things have small beginnings”. So be it.

Thank you Paul for sharing these images of “Birthmark Brett” with us all. He’s awesome! Anybody wanting to share images of their production error samples with us all, please let me know and I will consider posting them. Wherever possible, I provide credit to images as appropriate. Have a great day!

NEW SECTION – ImPerfect Organisms.

Today I added an entirely new section to HIDEOUS PLASTIC. This new section, ImPerfect Organisms is dedicated to officially licenced and released but defective ALIEN products that have somehow made their way passed Quality Control. They blatantly display flaws, faults and other anomalies not intended to be part of the product. Nonetheless these items have made their way into collector’s hands.

NECA, Super7 and Hiya Toys are already represented in ImPerfect Organisms with anomalous items that really shouldn’t have found their way outside the factory; and I hope to add more soon.

I always find it exciting to add new sections like this to the site to help expand its content. I hope you enjoy it, too. Access to this new content can be done via links appearing in this News item, from the Sidebar at right of the main page or by clicking on Collated Works immediately below the HIDEOUS PLASTIC site title header.

UPDATED – Bootlegs, Knock Offs and Other “Illegal Aliens”.

Slowly getting around to updating some areas of this blog. Now added to the section dedicated to unauthorised and unlicenced product inspired by the ALIEN movies are (Captain) Housten and a Trendmasters’ Space Alien. These very dodgy looking samples have been added to separate pages.
* You can find more info about the Housten item here.
* Details on the Trendmasters Space Alien can be found here.

Thank you James Chapman for introducing me to Housten. That’s one very special piece of weirdness you have there.

HIDEOUS PLASTIC – Post ALIEN Day Sale.

ALIEN Day, April 26, came and went pretty quietly. I spent the day celebrating with friends and that was the big occasion highlight for me. Which is a good thing because this year’s ALIEN Day was otherwise one of the quietest to date. Big announcements we’ve seen in the past were lacking and it was mostly the fan community bolstering the celebration. I guess that’s the way it should be. Anyway, let’s have a post ALIEN Day book sale.

Right now, HIDEOUS PLASTIC – In stores everyone can hear you scream has been discounted to the generous price of Au$30. That’s less than half price of original retail for a 300 page book dedicated to the “life and times” of the notorious eighteen inch tall ALIEN toy, released by Kenner in 1979.

Packed with information and full colour images, there has never, NEVER been a publication like it. When it comes to comics, novels big picture books for big kids and other forms of ALIEN literature, you will find them in abundance; but this is the only tome that even comes close to addressing a tiny corner of ALIEN merchandise. Unique and running low on stock. Posted from Australia to readers around the world. Purchased directly from the author (me) via eBay.

This sale will be active for the entire month of May. Don’t forget to read the feedback ratings.
